Behind every great beer...

Now that your mouth is watering for some hoppy, Wet Coast goodness, you've read a little about our brewery and our vision, we invite you to learn about how WCB came to be and meet your guides for this Magical Mystery Tour.  ​

It was about 5 years ago when it all went down.  Bryan had just taken a new job at the Lakewood Fire Department when he crossed paths with a suds lovin', larger than life personality.  Any guesses on who that might be?  Man, you're good!  Indeed it was the one and only, Aaron Johnson.  The encounter was much like that of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in the critically acclaimed film Step Brothers.   If you're not familiar with the movie, the scene goes something like this:

"On the count of three, name your favorite dinosaur.....1, 2, 3...VELOCIRAPTOR......Did we just become best friends?!?!  YUP...Wanna go do karate in the garage?!?! YUP!!!"

But instead of doing karate in the garage they found that making beer was much more fun!  

Like every brewer who's savored the fruits of their labor, eager to share their unique concoctions, Aaron and Bryan quickly began dreaming of their own brewery.  But unlike most who share the dream, these two were on a mission to make it a reality.  And once the word got out, the demand for their brews grew faster than a rum runner headed for the Wet Coast.  They quickly began learning techniques to advance their skills, sampled countless beers of the world, developed and redeveloped recipes, tried new grains, new hops, and new yeast strains.  They researched, reviewed and refined every step.  Did we mention they sampled countless beers?  All of this to hone their craft.

But the story doesn't end there.  To press forward the duo needed to recruit a couple of other essential players, but that would prove to be the easiest step.  Bryan's wife, Molly, and Aaron's wife, April, without hesitation, jumped right into this brewing endeavor and moved from taste-testers to teammates.  They'd long ago surrendered bathtubs and kitchen utensils to the home brewing effort - why not go all in?!  

So there you have it.  Four dedicated beer enthusiasts embarking on a whole new adventure - growing the craft beer community and the Wet Coast family one tasty pint at a time!
